MyFonts Most Popular Fonts of 2011

MyFonts.com recently announced their most popular fonts of 2011. The results are based on the font sales from all of their typeface categories. The list includes "Reina," an award- winning font that was inspired by classic fonts from the 1960s, "Alana," a script font based on hand lettering, "Hera Big," a display font that has eight different weights and italics and "Populaire," a font with a hand-drawn feel that was inspired by posters that were made during the May 1968 student revolt in Paris.

The entry deadline for the 2012 Webby Awards has been extended to January 27th.  This is your last chance to enter your work to be eligible to receive one of the highest accolades in online media.  Last years winners included National Geographic, Adobe, the New Yorker, LEGO, Mint, Epicurious and Yelp.

Online Printing

There are many options for online printing, which is often the most affordable way to print a design project. While you may not get the special attention of a smaller or local print shop, sometimes budgetary or time constraints or other variables make online printers the best choice. Most allow you to get paper samples by mail and see at least an online proof before placing your order, taking out some of the risk of paying for a print job without first seeing the finished product.

Graphic Design Magazines

Graphic design magazines are great if you are looking for inspiration, are interested in reading software reviews or tutorials and if you want to get expert advice from industry leaders through designer profiles and interviews. They are often full of award-winning design and editorials on the graphic design industry. While the printed magazine is all too often being replaced by online versions, I still like to take a magazine with me on-the-go, feel the paper samples, and keep something with me to read when I'm stuck on the subway with no Internet access.

Who's Hiring? Positions Available on Dribbble's Job Board

Dribbble is an invite-only website that showcases work-in-progress from graphic designers. Users share 400x300 pixel images that give a glimpse into projects they are working on. They now have a job section for designers that lists a variety of positions in the field, such as user experience designer and art director.
