Hello Class of 1982! In this update, I will do my best to keep it short... yeah, right! Keith did not tell me that I was limited to "50 words or less" so I will just write and if Keith must edit ? I hope he takes out the boring points and adds some interesting "goodies"! Before beginning to write this I dug out those yearbooksÉ oh, the wonderful memories. Only those of us who attended BL can fully comprehend what a wonderful place "the mountain" really was. After leaving BL, I attended Atlantic Christian College (now Barton College) in NC (and also the University of Guam for a year). After changing my major 5 times (I still dont know what I want to be when I grow up), I graduated in 1986 with a degree in Office Systems Administration. I am still trying to discover exactly what this degree actually qualifies me for! I met my husband, Dan, through my brother-in-law in Port Huron, MI. After many expensive phone calls back and forth from Guam, I moved to Michigan to work for him in July '87. After taking his car keys and checkbook, he had to marry me! We will celebrate our 14th anniversary this January. He probably feels it would have been cheaper just to keep me as an employee! We have no children, but I have been informed that the cat does count as a family member even though she is a very unruly one. Dan and I are sales reps for a textile mill and flooring manufacturer in England geared specifically for the bus, coach and rail markets with our territory involving all of North America and Mexico. The traveling can be quite extensive at times, but for the most part I run the office and only travel to the interesting places. When we moved back to NC in '96 we built a separate garage/office building on the property so I am able to work at home. I have been completely spoiled in this respect. Ive never been known for my ability to handle a structured environment so Im not sure how I would respond to someone else being the boss and telling me to work 8-5! But the other side of that coin is that at the end of the day the work must be done - so I am sometimes found still in the office late at night. We live in the Raleigh area surrounded by my family. One sister lives next door, one sister lives behind me and my parents live a few acres away. I like to refer to it as our 'family compound'. Some of you may remember my sister, Bev (class of '79). She lives in Atlanta with her husband Greg, daughters Jennifer (14), Jessica (13) and son Brandon (10). If you saw her today, she looks exactly the same as high school. Just as cute and perky as ever! There is so much more I would love to tell, but I will save that for another time. I am very much looking forward to hearing what everyone is doing and meeting again on the mountain for our 20th (how could it possibly have been that long ago when I still feel like a kid?). Thanks to Keith for giving us a place to catch up and keep in touch! And thanks to Susan for tracking so many of us down! Lori (Jones) Wagner |
